This video was taken by Guerin Goldsmith on June 1, 2013. Dover Harbor was open to the public (and open house) at the Manassas, Virginia Railway Festival. The video shows our docents giving tours and talking about the history of the car. The Dover Harbor is a 1923 Pullman Company Railroad car. It has 6 double bedrooms, a kitchen (buffet), and a lounge that seats 24. It is available for Charter across the United States and into portions of Canada. We attach the car to Amtrak trains to provide this service. For more information about the car visit www.doverharbor.com .
10/05/2015 On Monday Amtrak 69, the Adirondack, the 1974 spiritual successor of the Delaware & Hudson Laurentian which ran between 1923 to 1971 providing service between New York City and Montreal and stops in between. Todays Amtrak Adirondack had special guests on it not in the way of passengers, but special historical passenger coaches. First in the line was the Ocean View. A Budd built 1955 dome lounge built for the Great Northern Railroad's flagship train the Empire Builder. Today it is Amtrak's last remaining heritage dome and a regular addition to the Adirondack between Albany and Montreal. Second in line is the oldest at 92 years old the 1923 Pullman Standard heavyweight car built to serve on the Pennsylvania railroad's name train as the combine Maple Shade. In 1934 it was rebuil...

Here's a sampling of the experience of the DOVER HARBOR Pullman private rail car trip via Amtrak's Crescent route from Washington DC over the Norfolk Southern Railway to New Orleans. The trip was timed especially to allow the travelers to go to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, April 29-May 5, 2010. Trip participants stayed aboard the rail car, parked at New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal (as shown in the photo), while in the city. DOVER HARBOR is owned and operated by the Washington DC Chapter NRHS (DCNRHS). Still photos and video (note, there is no sound during the still photos).
